Travel Medical Insurance
Emergency medical care abroad is one of the few travel costs that can actually ruin you financially. A single hospital stay overseas can run into six figures. Travel medical insurance transfers that risk to an insurer for a few dollars a day.

How to choose the right coverage limit
Look at where you're going, not just how long you're staying. The US, Switzerland and a handful of other countries have medical costs high enough that a $50,000 limit can be exhausted by a single ICU stay. As a rule of thumb: $100,000 minimum for most of the world, $250,000+ if the US is on your itinerary, and always confirm the evacuation limit separately — it's often capped lower than the medical maximum.
