Travel Insurance for Destination Weddings and Honeymoons

Destination weddings combine two different risk categories — the event itself (non-refundable venue and vendor costs) and the trip (medical coverage for you and your guests). Most people only think about one.

Medical coverage for you and your guests

Standard travel medical insurance for the couple and traveling guests covers the same things any trip needs: emergency care, 24/7 assistance, and evacuation if needed. Each traveler generally needs their own policy or to be added to a group plan — one person's insurance doesn't cover the whole wedding party.

Event-specific coverage is a separate product

Non-refundable deposits to venues, caterers and vendors if the wedding itself has to be postponed (weather, illness, family emergency) is typically covered by a specialized "special event" or wedding insurance product, not standard travel medical insurance. If protecting those costs matters to you, look into that separately.

Pregnancy and honeymoon timing

If pregnancy is a possibility around the honeymoon dates, see our pregnancy travel insurance guide for what's typically covered and what isn't.
